The Fen Barn Project
This is the third instalment for our dear clients Elaine and Richard Flewitt. We have worked on two other kitchens with them for other properties on the farm so by now we understand their styles and what inspires them, usually real life places they have been.
This was probably the most exciting instalment as this was the final project and where they will now call home. This barn conversion is a home of bright and natural beauty with high contract colours with softer features such as the quartz worktop and waterfall ends.
The barn benefits from beautiful natural light so opting for something darker for their kitchen added drama to the space.
This kitchen features smooth black doors with black handle less rails with the added feature of hook around handles for the tall units. The soft concrete effect worktops lends to an industrial style in combination with a warmed toned concrete floor. Elaine and Richard always think about the overall feel of a space and achieve this beautifully every time. We love bringing their vision to life.
High Ceilings
It is not unusual to have vaulted ceilings in a barn conversion, but with the tall ceiling heights it can feel like lost space. Utilising dark cabinets can help the space feel more enclosed. The units are slightly taller than where the vault starts helping to achieve this.
Purposeful Tall Units
The most effective way to achieve a minimal look is ensuring you have plenty of storage space, including an area for toasters and pantry items. Efficient design is all about having daily use items to hand or conveniently placed in locations where you use them.
